BREAKING NEWS: South Africa legalizes incest

CAPE TOWN, South Africa, Sept. 27 — South Africa on Tuesday became the first country in the world, and to legalize incest.

Incest is sexual activity between family members or close relatives. This typically includes sexual activity between people in a consanguineous relationship (blood relations), and sometimes those related by affinity, such as individuals of the same household, step relatives, those related by adoption or marriage, or members of the same clan or lineage.

Incest, which used to be a crime has is now allowed in South Africa as the The Civil Union Act has been amended by the country’s Constitutional Court.

A group of incest activists have been secretly lobbying for the legalization of what used to be a crime.

So far, three incest would-be couples have shown up to congratulate the government on this move..

“There will be a huge response from incest couples who have waited such a long time for their relationship to be recognized,” said Melanie Judge, a program manager for the South Africa-based gay rights group who also played a major role in having incest legalised.

The constitution, the first in the world to prohibit discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation, provided a powerful legal tool for gay rights activists and now on incests even though South Africa remains conservative on issues of sexuality.

Though influential traditional leaders said the legislation violated African cultural norms, activists have been able to have them rescinded on their thoughts through financial and material gifts, a local radio station reported.

Siblings who are in amorous relationships are expected to hit the streets to celebrate the “secretly fought won battle”.
